Avakarnanam was founded with a belief to bridge the gap between the communities in terms of hearing accessibility. It aims to improve the quality of life for students who are deprived of some very basic needs. Avakarnanam is mainly focused on helping NGOs to scale their services and provide them with assistive tools and inclusive spaces. We not only aim to mitigate the gap in terms of accessibility but also bring in resource development projects and community mobilization. Our first initiative was to develop a structured resource bank that can help the NGOs to train volunteers and ensure sensitive services. We have also worked on a research article titled Resounding Words, which aims to simplify complex issues on public health which can even help non- trained volunteers. Avakarnanam has also organised a fundraising program to help in the procurement of hearing aids through our partner Hamari Pahchan. Our initiative has resulted in tangible solutions where we have been able to supply assistive devices to around 50 individuals, facilitating hearing access and educational participation.
